Handicapping, format & etiquette

The Network Handicapping and Scoring System

At the centre of our ethos to networking is having fun while doing it, so that the desired balance between work and play is maintained.

The format for golf at our events is based on the stableford scoring method, using full handicap allowance. To level the playing field and give all attendees a chance at glory, handicaps are adjusted after every event, as per the HANDICAPPING SYSTEM Golf Networks guideline.

While monthly prizes can be won by members and guests, it is only members that are able to accumulate points towards the Order of Merit trophy that all regions will award to the player who has collected the most points through a season. This is all administered and managed by your regional organiser.

Etiquette Notes

All members of the golf network organisation are expected to uphold the expected standards for attire and conduct, and also adhere to local rules of the host course. The rules by which we play are those laid down by the Royal & Ancient golf club. Some key guidelines are made for the progression of events in an efficient and effective manner:

  • Maintaining a good speed of play, as gauged by keeping up with the group in front of you.
  • Strictly no cheating on the course to get an advantage or deliberate falsification of scores. Any such conduct will lead to event disqualification if reported, and a repeat offence will lead to exclusion from the network.
  • Smartly attired as per expected standard.
  • Language and behaviour should reflect the professional and executive nature of the members, and cause no undue offence to fellow group members or those members and guests attending the venue on the same day.
